How To Make Sure Your Files Will Produce The Prints Your Business Needs

Press printing requires that you have access to printing equipment that goes beyond that of a desktop printer. If you decide to hire press printing services, most of the work will be performed for you. For example, if you would like to print at a high volume, this will be taken care of. However, you will need to make sure that your files are set up properly before you send them to a printing service.

Communicate with the Business Printing Services

Make sure to discuss your print job in detail with the press printing service. You will need to know whether there might be better options available that will suit your needs. For example, there might be a better finishing option, a better trim, or a way that you could print a large volume of documents in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

Make Sure the Printing Service Can Use Your File

A printing service will also explain the best file format that you can deliver to the company. Different software programs use different file formats and it might be better if you can convert your file format into one that can be easily used by the printing service. However, you shouldn't assume that the printing service will not be able to use a file format if it's the only one you have available.

Use the Right Color Format

The color of the file might need to be set up in the correct format to achieve the results you want. Certain color formats don't display the same way on a screen as they do when printed. It's a good idea to perform a test run to make sure that you're going to receive the results you expected.

Don't Use Low-Resolution Images

Clarify how large you would like the publication pages to be and make sure that the pages in your file are in the right format. Also, make sure that images have the correct resolution. When an image scales up, it will look blurry or pixelated.

If you will be printing a large image, you'll need to provide a high-resolution image. Fortunately, if your image is too large, it can always be scaled down without affecting the quality of the image.

Be Careful with Synthetic Fonts

If you will be using italics or bold, keep in mind that not every font has a bold or italic version of that font. If you make certain fonts italic, word processors will create a synthetic italic font that can be printed by most printers.

However, synthetic fonts do not work with high-end imagesetters. Make sure to choose a font that has an italic or bold version if you need these respective fonts. Then, your prints will look exactly how you want them to.
